Nicola Kaye - Principal, Wayland Junior Academy Watton

Nicola Kaye took up the role of Principal at Wayland Junior Academy in September 2014.  Prior to this Nicola was the Assistant Principal at Wayland Academy Norfolk overseeing all aspects of teaching and learning and pastoral care.  Nicola has 12 years experience within the Wayland Cluster and a further 4 years teaching experience in Peterborough.

During 2013, Nicola took up a period of secondment at Watton Junior School (as it was then) as Acting Head of Teaching and Learning to lead the school and to strengthen and develop the transitional links with Wayland Academy.  The Ofsted Inspection visit in November 2013 recognised… ‘ the temporary appointment this term of an enthusiastic and knowledgeable acting head of teaching and learning, supported by the academy’s experienced executive headteacher, has established a positive climate in the school.’

This was also acknowledged by the follow up HMI visit in February 2014, ‘The acting head of teaching and learning is determined to engage all staff, pupils and parents in the drive to improve the school; she is passionate and relentless in her work.’

Wayland Junior Academy Watton became an academy as part of the TEN Group on the 1st of April 2013.

‘As the new Principal in September I spent time with staff, pupils and parents exploring our vision and values for our academy.  We have an active Academy Council and Parent Forum and a creative and friendly team of dedicated staff.  Together we are all making and shaping our academy.’
