Workshop to get students thinking about money and careers in finance

A half-day workshop, bringing together Norfolk students and employers in the financial services sector, will encourage students to think more about their own personal finances – and to look at the career opportunities available to them in financial services.

The Have a Go at Financial Services Workshop on Friday 8th November, at St Andrews House in Norwich, has been organised by the TEN Group (Transforming Education in Norfolk) in conjunction with Marjorie Eade and supported by organisations including sponsor Swiss Re/ Admin Re and Virgin Money.

Transforming Education in Norfolk (the TEN Group) has announced the appointment of Alex Hayes as Principal of University Technical College Norfolk, which will open in Norwich in September 2014.

Mr Hayes will take up the post, leading the new UTC for 14 to 19 year olds that will specialise in engineering and energy skills, on 1st January 2014.

Fakenham Academy Norfolk becomes a TEN Group academy

The Principal of Fakenham Academy Norfolk, Matthew Parr-Burman, has highlighted his ambition for the new Academy – formerly Fakenham High School and College – to become “completely and utterly outstanding in every single thing we do.”

The conversion of Fakenham High School and College to sponsored academy status, as part of the Transforming Education in Norfolk (TEN Group) federation, begins today, Tuesday 1st October 2013, after Education Secretary Michael Gove signed off the funding agreement last week.

Norfolk Educational Services shortlisted for health and safety award

Norfolk Educational Services (NES) are delighted to announce that they have been shortlisted for the Best Health and Safety Achievement in Public Services award at this year’s Safety and Health Practitioner (SHP) Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) Awards.

The shared services organisation that provides business support to the educational institutions within the Transforming Education in Norfolk (TEN Group) federation, was shortlisted for the quality of its guidance for ensuring safer work placements for students.  

Students embrace new role at Fakenham Academy Norfolk

Fakenham Academy Norfolk is putting its faith in its students by giving them a key role in making improvements within the Academy and by publicly sharing their experiences at Open Days and via Twitter.  

The newly launched Ambassador scheme goes further than traditional School Councils and Prefect systems.  It aims to engage large number of students not only in the process of giving feedback, but also links the Ambassador role directly to the improvement process within the Academy.    

"Per ardua ad astra” – Fakenham Academy students celebrate Latin success

Students at Fakenham Academy Norfolk have been celebrating impressive results from their attendance at the Academy’s after-school Latin club, with 24 students achieving an A or an A* in GCSE Latin.

Since September 2007 Fakenham Academy Norfolk has been teaching Latin as an after school club, during which time over 70 students have taken GCSEs in Latin with excellent results (not one has received lower than a C grade).
