UTCN at the Sea of Opportunity show

UTCN are at the two day Sea of Opportunity event, held at the Norwich Show Ground on the 5th & 6th March, run by East of England Energy group.

The event is billed as the most important conference for the offshore energy industry in the East of England, offering training and skills sessions with an insight into innovation and technology, business opportunities and markets.

Students get first look inside UTCN building

Some of the first applicants to University Technical College Norfolk have been given a sneak preview of their new school which is being created from a former factory.

A viewing gallery has opened to enable visitors to the UTC Norfolk, at Yarefield Park, Old Hall Road in Norwich, to see the impressive facility taking shape for themselves and to get a feel for how the UTC will look when it is complete.

City Academy Norwich commended for architectural acoustics

City Academy Norwich has received national recognition for the quality of the acoustics in the atrium at the heart of the academy’s new building, which was opened last year.

The Academy, and engineers WSP Group, were commended at the recent 2013 Awards for Architectural Acoustics, hosted by The Association of Noise Consultants.  The Association recognised the technical challenges of this ambitious project and commended the partnership between acoustic consultants and the Academy.

Watton Junior to become first TEN Group junior school in April ‘14

The TEN Group has pledged to work to make Watton Junior School the best it can be for its community following the news that approval has been granted for the school to convert to Academy status next April – making it the first junior school in the federation.

It was announced yesterday that the Department for Education (DfE) had approved the application of Watton Junior School to convert to Academy status and join the Transforming Education in Norfolk (the TEN Group) federation.  

Josh’s mission to offer homework help to fellow pupils

Twelve year old Josh Alderton, a Year 8 student at City Academy Norwich, has made it his mission to help as many other youngsters with their homework as possible by launching a web site which offers tips and covers key topics in subjects such as maths, English and science.

New Norfolk Teacher Training Centre to focus on excellence in hands-on teacher education

Details of a new teacher training centre for Norfolk, led by the Transforming Education in Norfolk (TEN) Group, have been announced today.  The Centre will bring together a unique partnership of teaching expertise and experience from across the County, providing a substantially academy-based approach to initial teacher training.

Workshop to get students thinking about money and careers in finance

A half-day workshop, bringing together Norfolk students and employers in the financial services sector, will encourage students to think more about their own personal finances – and to look at the career opportunities available to them in financial services.

The Have a Go at Financial Services Workshop on Friday 8th November, at St Andrews House in Norwich, has been organised by the TEN Group (Transforming Education in Norfolk) in conjunction with Marjorie Eade and supported by organisations including sponsor Swiss Re/ Admin Re and Virgin Money.
